Overview

Langtang Explore Trekking

Langtang Explore Trekking trail through the Tamang heritage and right into the lap of the Himalayas, trekking through Langtang is like going on a first date. By the door sit the majestic Himalayas in a proud fashion, the gurgling streams and the jovial rivers are by the stairs playing music, the floras and faunas are flirting with the wildlife, and the stunning Langtang Region Landscapes are doing their best to get you intoxicated with their beauty. Encompassed by the magnificent backdrop of the Langtang Himalayan Range, jade-like grasslands, and landscapes you could lose yourself in along with the Holy Gosainkunda Lake that sits regal and proud, Langtang Explore Trekking is an ideal date with the Himalayas.

The Trishuli River winds up and down like a serpent throughout your journey from Kathmandu to Sybrubensi. The hidden gem of Gatlang village is surrounded by greenery and filled with houses made of stones and wood. Accompanied by the heartwarming smiles of the Tamang people, you reach the Lama Hotel past the villages of Tatopani, Briddim, and Sherpa Gaon. The ascent continues as Langtang Lirung (7227 m) reveals herself just beyond the horizon but disappears when you stretch your neck to take a picture, like a shy kid who stands behind her mother every time visitors arrive. Determined to catch her, you head up to Kyanjin Gumba, the oldest monastery in the region decorated by a sea of prayer flags. And later, standing atop Tserko Ri (4984m), Langtang Lirung (7227 m) stands in front of you- majestic, mesmerizing and enormous. She is accompanied by the Snow Capped Mountain in the form of Dorje Lakpa (6966 m) and Shishapangma (8013 m) to the east, and Yala Peak (5520 m) to the north. The trail then heads through forests and steep trails to reach the enchanting Goshainkunda, her beauty unparalleled and otherworldly. Surrounded by the ageless Himalayas, she sits calm and tranquil even when thronged with thousands of pilgrims every year during the Janai Purnima Goshainkunda Holy Festival. The water shines and sparkles along her frosty shore as if saying you finally found your way to me.

Like a drunk driver is not an ideal person to accompany you to your first date, a run- the -of- the -mill travel company isn’t an ideal choice for hiking in the Himalayas. We here at Glacier Family Treks and Expedition boast being the very best facilitators when it comes to Himalayan routes. Try us out and find it out yourself.

Itinerary

After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representatives will receive you and then drive you to your hotel. Here you will meet with the guides who will brief you on the journey ahead. Once the briefing is over, you can take a light stroll around the Thamel area. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Alongside the Trishuli River, we head to Sybrubensi, from where the real trekking begins. The trail passes through little hamlets situated on the bank of Trishuli River accompanied by the mesmerizing landscapes of the hilly region. A sneak peeks of Langtang Lirung (7227) and Ganesh Himal (7422m), during the drive, is highly probable. Overnight in Sybrubensi.

Starts as we leave Sybrubensi for Gatlang village. The trail ascends till the village of Rongga Bhanjyang and is followed by a gradual descend to Goljung village. The viewpoint at Goljung village works as an excellent teaser for those heading into the Himalayas. It provides mesmerizing views of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), Langshisa Ri (6,427m), and many other snowy mountains. Another hour of ascending takes us to Gatlang Village. A visit to Pārbati Kunda along the way provides a chance to witness the wonder of nature. Overnight in Gatlang.

From Gatlang, we descend until we reach the village of Chilime. Across the suspension bridge and up the terraced farmlands, we land in Gonggang. This is followed by another ascend towards the village of Tatopani. The trek to Tatopani is an excellent chance to familiarize ourselves with the unique Tamang culture and lifestyle. Throughout the journey, we pass through seas of prayer flags, Mani stones, and Chortens which show the influence of Buddhism in this region. The village of Tatopani is also home to a natural hot water spring, which is said to remove all your physical pains and aches. Overnight in Tatopani.

We move through dense forests filled with brightly colored rhododendrons blooming in shades of white, pink and crimson red. The trail moves up and down through the rocky hillsides until we reach the Tamang village of Brimdang. From there, the ascent takes about 2 hours as we break into Nagthali View Point. Perhaps the very best views of this entire trek, Nagthali Viewpoint provides the panoramic view of the majestic Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung (7227m), Shishapangma (8013m), and Ganesh Himal (7442m) to name a few. Overnight in Nagthali.

The day begins with a gradual descend through forests alive and brimming with wildlife until we reach the village of Thuman. The trail then descends to Bhote Koshi River, which is then crossed on a suspension bridge to reach Timure. Then through the lush forest with glimpses of the Langtang range, we reach Lingling village and gently ascend to reach Briddhim village. The village is well known for homestay which provides a unique chance to unravel all our held up queries about the Tamang culture. Overnight in Briddhim.

At this point, we will already be traveling in the constant company of the Himalayas. The majestic mountains loom all around us as we make our way to Sherpa Gaon. The trail out of Briddhim continues till the village of Wagnall. From there, we descend alongside Ghopcha Khola and reach Sherpa Gaon. The village located inside Langtang National Park is home to Buddhist monks who trace their ancestry to Tibet. Overnight in Sherpa Gaon.

Today is one of the shorter days of the trek. The ever winding and ever-twisting trail descends through lush green forests filled with vibrant colors. The wildlife peeks through the brightly colored rhododendrons wary of the travelers. Apart from the awe-inspiring views of Langtang Himalayan range, we also get our fill of the Gosainkunda Valley stretching below us as far as the eyes can see. Trekking for 4 hours at an easy pace will bring us to Lama Hotel. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

Once again the trail moves through the lush forests. Trekking for an hour from Lama Hotel brings us to the village of Gumanechok. Moving alongside picturesque landscapes, we reach the village of Ghodatabela, which makes for an ideal place to rest. Also, the views of Langtang Lirung (7227m) and Shishapangma (8013m) are literally breathtaking. The easy half of the trek awaits us as we make our way through yak pastures and the gradually opening valley in front of us. Past some forests once more, we reach Thangshyap, where we stop for the night.

From Thangshyap, we head upwards till we reach the village of Chyamki. Leaving the dense forests behind us, we head toward the rocky mounds filled with Buddhist inscriptions. The trail moves past water mills, small monasteries, and dancing waterfalls before we reach Langtang village. We will have the most astonishing view of Langtang Lirung (7227m) from Langtang village as the village lies on the foothill of the gorgeous mountain. Overnight in Langtang village.

The Tamang hamlet of Kyanjin is well known for the monastery it houses and the heavenly cheese produced in the village. From Langtang village, it takes around 4 hours to reach Kyanjin. Kyanjin village is home to Kyanjin Gumba, which is the oldest monastery of the Langtang region. A wisp of air combined with the cultural and spiritual bliss calms us as we take in the first views of the monastery. The familiar sight of Mani stones and prayer flags surround the 600-year old monastery. The Thangkha paintings brought from Tibet 400 years ago decorate the intricately carved wooden walls and the great hall resonates in the sounds of Buddhist prayers. Outside the Gumba, the picturesque view of Mt. Gangchempo (6387m) and Mt. Langtang Lirung (7227m) awaits us. Overnight in Kyanjin village.

The highlight of the entire trek has to be the journey to the peak of Tserko Ri (4985m). The panoramic mountain ranges surround us on all sides welcoming us to their land. The 3-hour ascend to the top will give us a chance to witness the grandeur of the Himalayas in a way the trail could not. The sunlight hits the top of Langtang Lirung (7227m), who casts her shadow on Langtang Ri (7205m). As the light and shadows try to find an intricate balance reflected in the snowcapped Himalayas, all we can do is stand and stare with jaws dropped in awe, hoping and trying desperately to never close our eyes in fear of missing even a single moment of this otherworldly experience. We then move towards the valley of Langshisha before heading towards Naya Kang Base Camp, the former well-known as the convergence point of Langtang, Shalbachum and Langshisha glacial moraines. The peak of Naya Kang (5844m) lies towards the southern area of Ganja La Pass (5130m) and is one of the most popular peaks in Langtang region. Overnight in Kyanjin village.

Our days in the Himalayas are slowly moving to an end as we hike down towards the Tamang hamlet of Thangshyap. Trekking through the yak pastures until reaching Langtang village, we head into the lush green forests once again. After days among the rocky and snowy mountains, the sound of dead leaves crunching beneath our footsteps is pleasant and enjoyable. As we descend to the village of Thangshyap, the majestic Himalayas stand behind us bidding farewell. Overnight in Thangshyap.

Having rested in the sadness of leaving the Himalayas behind, we head to the village of Bamboo. Moving past small settlements drenched in the unique culture of the Tamangs, we move through the dense forests. The 5-hour trek through the pleasant hilly forests with an occasional sighting of wildlife is a great day to reflect back on our journey. Overnight in Bamboo.

Thulo Syabru awaits us further on our trail. Walking through the forested trail will bring us to Pairo, where the trail to Sybrubensi and Thulo Syabru separate. From here we need to ascend up for around 3 hours to reach the village of Thulo Syabru. The steep trail is well managed with stone steps and Buddhist Chortens. Overnight in Thulo Syabru.

Chasing the trail through dense forests filled with oak, fir, and hemlock, we reach Foprang Danda. From there, we head to Chandanbari, which we will explore on our way down. A quick rest there and up we go through rugged trail towards Cholangpati. The village is famous for its mesmerizing and picturesque views of the Ganesh Himal Range at its very best. Overnight in Cholangpati.

Today is the final piece of adventure before the curtain falls on our Himalayan journey. Like enjoying the ending song of the final episode of a show we like, we head to Gosainkunda for the final wonder of the Himalayas. We pass through Damodar Kunda and Saraswati Kunda before reaching the holy Gosainkunda at 4381m. The pristine jewel of the Himalayas shines and sparkles enclosed by her icy shores surrounded by mesmerizing landscapes all around. She feels more like a full blown package than the place of the final glimpse.

We retrace our steps from Gosainkunda through the forests filled with oak, fir and hemlock trees to reach Chandanbari. The village is well known as the home of Shin Gompa and houses a cheese production center which is well known throughout the entire region for its wonderful taste. Overnight in Shin Gompa.

Today is the final day of the trek. For one last time, we trek through the lush green forests of rhododendron still in full bloom as we make our way to Dhunche. Down the village of Dimsa and Deurali, we arrive in Dhunche Bazaar located above the Trishuli Ganga River. We stay the night in Dhunche.

After filling our sights with the hilly picturesque landscapes for one last time, we head towards Kathmandu. Retracing the same steps back alongside Trishuli River, we move through the terraced farmlands once again. But we cannot guarantee you will remain awake throughout the journey. After all, the calming hilly landscapes combined with the pleasant breeze on a warm afternoon is sure to make everyone sleepy. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel for the overnight stay.

Another day in Kathmandu can be a couple of different things, it can be a rest day or can be a day for hunting souvenirs or can be a day to tour through the premium destinations of the valley. Regardless of what you wish to do, we will make sure you will enjoy every second of it. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

The curtain on our magnificent journey alongside the Himalayas has dropped. It’s time for goodbyes. Our representatives will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport from where you will board the flight to your next destination.
