The Gokyo Everest Base Camp Trek is a beautifully combined two beautiful trekking trails in the Everest Region Trek– Gokyo- Ri Trek and Chola Pass Trek. It offers a perfect mix of stunning mountain views, peaceful Gokyo lakes, and entire Sherpa culture of Khumbu region.

Our journey starts with a short flight to Lukla from Kathmandu or Manthali which depends on the date (Before October is from Kathmandu and from the first day of October, is from Manthali for the flight). The Gokyo Everest Base Camp Trek follows through the different Sherpa Villages, Dudh Koshi River and green forest-valleys. We often cross the hanging or suspension bridges all the way to Namche Bazar’ mountain sherpa villages until you reach to Namche Bazaar—the lively heart of the Khumbu region or the main gateway to Everest Base Camp. Some information of Gokyo Everest Base Camp Trek

Gokyo Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most adventurous and scenic trekking routes in the Everest region of Nepal. It takes trekkers through the beautiful Gokyo Valley, across the high-altitude Chola Pass, and to the legendary Everest Base Camp, offering breath-taking views of Himalayan peaks, turquoise lakes, and massive glaciers. The trek usually takes 16 to 18 days, allowing ample time for acclimatization and exploration.

The best times for this trek are March to May and September to November or 2nd week of December. When the weather is generally stable clear. While previous trekking experience is not strictly required, having a good level of physical fitness, mental endurance, and some high-altitude hiking preparation is very helpful.

Crossing the Chola Pass is considered one of the more challenging segments of the trek due to its high elevation and often icy or snowy trail conditions. Trekkers should be well-prepared and allow time to adjust to the altitude. Acclimatization days and staying well-hydrated are critical to prevent altitude sickness, which is a potential risk on this trek.

To complete the Gokyo Everest Base Camp Trek, several permits are required, including the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit, TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card, and the Pasang Lhamu Municipality fee. As of April 1st, 2023, hiring a licensed trekking guide has become mandatory in Nepal for safety and regulation purposes. While previously optional, having a guide is now essential, not only for route navigation and safety but also to enrich the journey with cultural insights.
