Everest Two Passes Trekking is an exciting and well demanded TREKKING in Everest region. Renjo La Pass and Chola Pass are those two passes. It’s adventurous trekking in Khumbu Himalaya area which takes you through three different famous valleys- Thame Valley, Gokyo Valley, and the Everest Base Camp trail. Along the way, you’ll be treated to beautiful and breathtaking views of four world’s tallest mountains which are Mount Everest (8,848m), Mount Lhotse (8,516m), Mount Makalu (8,463m), and Mount Cho Oyu (8,201m). But there are not only these four giant mountains. Along with these four tallest mountains, there are many other peaks in the Khumbu region. The Two Passes trail passe through Sagarmatha National Park and this park us protected by UNESCO nature site since 1979 for musk deer specially. This trekking trail takes you walking among beautiful forests of juniper, pine, rhododendron, and fir trees. The park is also home to wildlife like mountain goats, musk deer, jackals, and red pandas, as well as colorful birds like pheasants, hawks, and sparrows.

The trek covers about 234 kilometers and takes at least three weeks to complete. It starts with a short, scenic flight from Kathmandu or from Ramechhap to Lukla. From there, the route takes you through villages like Chauri Kharka, Phakding, Jorsale, and Namche Bazaar, where you’ll spend an extra day to acclimatize and enjoy amazing views from the Everest View Hotel. The trail then continues through Thame, Renjo La Pass (5360m), Gokyo Valley (where you can climb Gokyo Ri (5360m) for incredible panoramic views), Cho La Pass (5420m), Lobuche, and Gorakshep, before reaching Everest Base Camp. One of the highlights is climbing Kala Patthar (5,545m), a famous viewpoint offering close-up views of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7861m), and Pumori (7161m). On the way back, the trek descends through Thukla, Pheriche village, Tengboche, and Namche Bazaar before you return to Kathmandu by flight from Lukla.

This Everest Two Passes Trek is challenging and requires good physical fitness. We have to walk or climb at least 400 to 500 meter every day basis. That’s why, we have to have appropriate physical fitness and condition. The best times to do it are in the autumn or spring seasons, but it’s also possible during the monsoon. Most itineraries are about 18 days long, but they can be customized to suit your schedule and preferences. To make the experience safer and more enjoyable, it’s recommended to book with a government-registered local trekking company. Adding a side trip to Ama Dablam Base Camp is also a great way to elaborate your adventure in the Himalaya. Cho La Pass (5,420m)

Cho La Pass is a more technical and demanding pass that links the Gokyo Valley with the Everest Base Camp trail. This section of the trek is a true test of endurance and skill, as it involves crossing icy glaciers, navigating rocky moraines, and climbing steep ascents. The top of Cho La offers dramatic views of iconic peaks such as Mt Ama Dablam (6812m), Lobuche East (6119m), and Mt Nuptse. Itinerary of Everest Two Passes Trekking

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)
Welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu! After arrival at Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. There will be short a briefing or discussion about the Everest Two Passes Trekking. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Flight to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,840m) before October. Drive to Ramechhap Airport by early morning, 5 hours driving from Kathmandu. Then, fly to Lulka. Start walking to Phakding (2660m), 3 hours.
If we do flight from Kathmandu, 35-minutes of flight to Lukla , If flight from Ramechhap, it will take 15 minutes flight from Ramechha. Overnight in Phakding.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), 5-6 hours.
Walk through pine forests, cross multiple suspension bridges on the way and pass through small villages to Namche Bazaar. Approximately 5-6 hours of walking. Overnight in lodge.

Day 04: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar .
Spend the day for acclimatization at Namche Bazar. During the day, hike to Everest View Hotel to have a cup of hot coffee from the terrace of the hotel. Stunning views of Mt Everest (8848m) Mt Lotse (8516m) Mt Nupste (7861m), Mt Ama Dablam (6812m), Mt Thamserku (6608m), Mt Kangtega (6772m), Mt Kusum Kangura (6367m) and many others mountain peaks. Then, visit to Hilary School at Khumjung Village, Khunde Village and finally, hike to Edmond Hilary Memorial Park (3900m) then back to lodge at Namche Bazar. Overnight in Namche.

Day 05: Trek to Thame (3,867m), 4-5 hours.
Follow a scenic and tranquil trail to Thame after our breakfast at Namche, a quiet Sherpa village known for its monastery and stunning mountain views. Walk for about 5-6 hours.
Over night in lodge.
Day 06: Trek to Lungden (4,610m), 4-5 hours.
Climb higher as you trek to Lungden, passing traditional settlements and suspension bridge on the beautiful landscapes. Overnight in lodge.

Day 07: Cross Renjo La Pass (5,338m) and Trek to Gokyo (4,750m), 8-9 hours.
Early morning breakfast in lodge to start better day! This is a challenging day as you cross the Renjo La Pass (5360m). From the top, enjoy stunning views of Mt Everest, Mt Cho-Oyu, Mt Lotse and Mt Makalu. And, breatheless views of the turquoise Gokyo Lakes. Descend to Gokyo Lake Side for the night stay. Overnight in lodge at Lake Side of Gokyo (4700m).

Day 08: Gokyo Ri Hike and Trek to Thangnak (4,700m)
Start early morning for a hike to Gokyo Ri (5,350m) having no breakfast! Renjo La Pass is our first pass of Everest Two Passes Trekking. Gokyo Ri (5360m) offers a panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, among other peaks which are already higher than 8000m from the same spot. Return to Gokyo for lunch by the lake and then trek to Thangnak. Walking time is approximately 5-6 hours.

Day 09: Cross Cho La Pass (5,420m) and Trek to Dzongla (4,810m), 8-9 hours.
As it is our second pass of Everest Two Passes Trekking, this day is an adventurous day as you cross the icy Cho La Pass, connecting the Gokyo Valley to the Everest Base Camp Trek. After a steep descent, reach Dzongla. Walk for about 8-9 hours.

Day 10: Trek to Labuche (4,910m)
Relatively more enjoyable and softer day while trek to Labuce from Dzongla. Surrounding mountain views are crazily stunning ! Including, the views of glaciers and peaks make the day which is rewarded one. Walk for about 4-5 hours.

Day 11: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Overnight at Gorakshep (5,180m)
Hike to Gorakshep and continue to Everest Base Camp, where climbers prepare for Everest expeditions. After exploring the Everest Base Camp, return to Gorakshep for the night. Approximate walking hours will be about 5-6 hours.
Overnight in lodge at Gorakshep.

Day 12: Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) very early morning for sun rise. It will take 3 to 4 hours for round trip but while climbing to Kala Pattar (5545m), will be taken about 3 hours. Back to Lodge and breakfast. After breakfast, descend to Dingboche (4410m).
Overnight in Labuche.

Day 13: Trek to Tengboche (3,890m) or, Debuche (3820m), 5-6 hours.
Crossing a belly-Iron bridge nearby Dingboche, we get to Pangboche Village.
Trek through rhododendron forests after crssing a suspenssion bridge over the Imja Kholaand to reach to Deboche and Tengboche. There is a famous Tengboche Monastery. Walk for about 5-6 hours.

Day 14: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) , 5-6 hours.
Retracing our foot steps to Namche Bazaar, enjoying the downhill trail to Imja Khola again and Military check post. Walk for about 5-6 hours.
Overnight in Namche Bazar- The main gate to Everest Base Camp Trek.

Day 15: Trek to Lukla (2,830m)
On your final trekking day, descend through forests and villages back to Lukla, where your journey began. Walk for about 6-7 hours.

Day 16: Flight to Kathmandu or, Flight to Ramechhap, drive to Kathmandu.
Take a morning flight back to Kathmandu or Ramechap. Rest and relax at your hotel, or explore the city. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Final departure from Kathmandu, Nepal.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
