Glacial Lake damaged severely Thame Village
Thame Village, one of the most beautiful settlements in Khumbu region of Nepal, is severely damaged by the glacier lake in August 6 2024. This Sherpa village is known for its rich of cultural heritage and its lust valley which surrounded by many higher mountains. One of Glacial Lake Outburst Flood hit and swept away almost all the Thame Village. This catastrophic and natural accident caused to loss of life of this Thame Village. But there is no death found till this date except missing one person. Many properties of local people like individual houses, castles, police station, public health center, cowsheds and one public school are washed away by the flood.
Thame Village is located in the Solukhumbu District, to the north-east of Nepal. This area is covered by the Sagarmatha National Park which is protected by the UNESCO World Heritage Site for the nature and wildlife since 1979. It is situated in the altitude of approximately 3,800 meters. This village is surrounded by the foothills of the gigantic Himalayas and many others glacial lakes and glacial rivers. The Thame region is known for its wonderful landscapes and many others monasteries, with snowy mountain peaks, deep and large valleys.
